Stagno Typo

Stagno is a variable display font, designed for the collective of the same name. The collective focuses on experimental electronic music in which rhythm, sound, and structure take center stage, with an emphasis on attentive listening rather than hedonism. The music combines tribal-like rhythms with otherworldly, technological sounds. This creates a tension between nature and technology, which strongly defines the identity of the collective. This contrast also forms the basis of the typeface. Stagno is constructed strictly according to a grid and has a futuristic, technological appearance, while at the same time referencing humanist letterforms. This is especially visible in the double-storey “a” and “g,” while subtle incisions suggest the presence of serifs.
